What is RISE?
RISE is an organization dedicated to providing mentorship and support to students pursuing higher education. We understand the challenges of navigating academic pathways and accessing the resources needed to succeed. Through guidance, mentorship, and practical resources, we aim to equip students with the knowledge and confidence to pursue opportunities in their chosen fields.
Our Mission
RISE is dedicated to expanding access to higher education by providing students with the support and resources they need to succeed.
Equitable Access: Reduce barriers to higher education and create opportunities for students from all backgrounds.
Mentorship & Guidance: Connect students with the knowledge and support needed to navigate academic pathways.
Empowerment: Build students’ confidence and equip them with the skills to pursue their academic and professional goals.
Opportunity for All: Help students reach their potential, regardless of their background or access to existing resources.
Priorities
STEM Career Navigation: Support students who lack access to resources, mentorship, and guidance as they explore and pursue STEM careers.
Flexible Participation: Offer multiple ways to get involved, whether through mentorship matching alone or by enrolling in specific support opportunities based on individual needs and goals.
Accessible, High-Quality Resources: Develop and centralize reliable resources and guidance that are currently limited, difficult to find, or scattered across the University of Texas community.
Pathways Program
In addition to the 1-1 mentor matching, participants will also have access to workshops and information sessions related to graduate and medical school. These will occur throughout the semester and will cover a variety of topics. Note: you must participate in the 101 matching to be included in our pre-professional programming.
